Microminerals

Dazzling mineral specimens catch the eye, quicken the heart, and feed the muse in all of us.

Would you believe, however, that only 300 of the 4100 known species of minerals are large enough to enjoy without a microscope?

Your AGMC has a special subgroup which meets monthly, with their microscopes, to appreciate and discuss these diminutive minerals. In fact, during most micro mineral meetings, one is exposed to dozens of minerals from around New Mexico, the US, and the world, where friends can share stories of their pursuit and collection.

Most every meeting has free material, and an open agenda allows one of the best opportunities for mineral identification, both micro and larger specimens.

Please drop by and share a story or specimen of your own; we have extra scopes just for you!
