Lapidary Studio Equipment
The following pieces of equipment are available for student use in the current studio:
1 Two Raytech 6″ Trim Saws. Always make sure there is coolant in the saw before using.
2. Two EZ Cab Lapidary Machines – 80/220 grit diamond hard 8″ wheels and 360/600/1200/3000 grit diamond soft resin 8″ wheels.
3. One Lortone Twin Arbors with 80/220 grit diamond hard 8″ wheels.
The Studio also maintains several gemstone templates and books. Students can also obtain slabbed material at nominal fees to give them something to cut. The first one is free.
Equipment Danger Zones: Students should be aware of the danger zones associated with each piece of equipment where there is a greater possibility of getting hurt.

1. EZ CAB – The belt on the back (#20), under the wheels (#1-6), and on the ends where the rotating shaft is exposed (#19), wheel face and edges (#1-6).

2. Trim Saw – the belt (when open) (#7), the actual blade (including the slit in the tray where things get jammed) (#5) and the motor shaft (#1).
